Ingredients

  • 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons soft butter
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 3 eggs

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt, and dry yeast.
  2. Add the softened butter to the mixture.
  3. Gradually add warm water to the dry mixture and beat for 2 minutes at medium speed.
  4. Add eggs and 1/2 cup flour, then beat at high speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  6. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk, about 35 minutes.
  7. Stir down the dough.
  8. Divide the dough into 2 greased 1 1/2-quart casserole dishes.
  9. Cover and let rise for about 40 minutes.
  10. Bake at 375°F for approximately 35 minutes.
  11. Remove from dishes and cool on racks.
