These classic English connection scones are tender, buttery, and perfect for breakfast or tea time. Light and fluffy with a hint of sweetness, ideal for all occasions.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 oz. real butter
  • 1 c. whipping cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Cut the butter into pats and mix with the flour mixture until it resembles fine bread crumbs.
  3. Add the whipping cream and stir until just combined.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured breadboard.
  5. Knead lightly 3 or 4 times.
  6. Pat out to 1-inch thickness.
  7. Cut out rounds with a glass or biscuit cutter.
  8. Bake on an ungreased baking sheet at 375°F (190°C) for 12 to 15 minutes.
