Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. hamburger meat
  • 1/2 lb. bacon
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 4 teaspoons cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large can baked beans
  • 1 can chickpeas (garbanzos), drained
  • 1 can red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can green limas, drained

Instructions

  1. Fry the bacon until crisp. Remove bacon and crumble, reserving the bacon fat.
  2. Brown the hamburger in the bacon fat.
  3. Add chopped onion, ketchup, salt, mustard, cider vinegar, brown sugar, and crumbled bacon; simmer for five minutes.
  4. Mix baked beans, drained chickpeas, drained red kidney beans, and drained green limas together and add to the sauce.
  5. Pour the mixture into a baking dish or bean pot and bake for 40 minutes at 350°F.
