Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup white Karo syrup
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/4 stick butter
  • 2 cups raw peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons soda

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, white Karo, and hot water in a saucepan and cook to 250°F on a candy thermometer.
  2. Add butter and peanuts to the mixture.
  3. Stir constantly and cook until the temperature reaches 310°F.
  4. Remove from heat; add vanilla and soda, and quickly stir to combine.
  5. Pour the mixture onto a buttered aluminum tray or pans, spreading evenly.
  6. Stretch and break into pieces once cooled.
  7. Work quickly during pouring and breaking steps to prevent hardening.
