Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 tart apples (1 1/2 lb.)
  • 1 unbaked pastry pie shell
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 3/4 cup butter

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the tart apples.
  2. Arrange the apple slices in the unbaked pie shell.
  3. Combine flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, chopped pecans (if using), and butter until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the crumb mixture over the apples in the pie shell.
  5. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes.
  6. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for another 45 minutes.
