Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 squares melted chocolate
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 cup chopped nuts, floured
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add egg yolks and melted chocolate, mixing well.
  3. Sift in the flour and baking powder, then mix to combine.
  4. Gradually add milk and fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites.
  5. Stir in the floured chopped nuts and vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
