Ingredients

  • 7 to 7 1/2 cups flour
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups toasted filberts
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and ground cloves.
  2. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
  3. Slightly beat the eggs.
  4. Add sugar, honey, and toasted filberts to the eggs and mix.
  5. Pour the egg mixture into the well and work it together.
  6. Form the mixture into sausage-like rolls, ensuring they are not too high and may be slightly flat.
  7. Place 2 rolls in each prepared pan.
  8. Beat one egg and brush it over the logs.
  9. Bake at 350°F for about 35 minutes or until browned but not overbaked.
  10. Allow the logs to cool, then slice before serving.
