- Cook ground beef and chopped onion in a large skillet until the meat is browned and the onion is tender.
- Discard drippings from the skillet.
- Add chili powder, ground cumin, and salt to the beef mixture and stir well.
- Cook over low heat for 10 minutes.
- Spoon the meat mixture into a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
- Layer the ranch style beans, torn corn tortillas, and shredded cheeses over the meat mixture.
- Spread the undiluted cream of mushroom soup on top of the layered ingredients.
- Pour the can of tomatoes and green chilies over the soup.
- Cover the baking dish and refrigerate overnight.
- Bake uncovered at 350°F for 1 hour before serving.
