Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 squares baking chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 cup chocolate bits
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Put oil in a 9-inch square pan and slosh around until sides and bottom are coated.
  2. Add water, egg, sugar, flour, soda, salt, melted chocolate, and vanilla to the pan.
  3. Mix with a fork and spatula for 2 minutes or until smooth, all in the baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle chocolate bits and chopped nuts over the top.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
  6. No frosting is necessary. Cake will be moist and yummy.
