Flora'S Cornbread Dressing
Ingredients
- 2 or 3 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 1 large green bell pepper, finely chopped ⓘ
- 1 large onion, finely chopped ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 8-inch pan cornbread ⓘ
- 8 slices crisp toast ⓘ
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon celery seed ⓘ
- 2 cups chicken stock ⓘ
- 2 teaspoons rubbed sage ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon powdered sage ⓘ
- 2 extra-large eggs ⓘ
Instructions
- Saute celery, bell pepper and onion in 2 tablespoons melted butter.
- Mash all the ingredients together in a bowl. Add more stock if necessary to thoroughly moisten the mixture. (Be careful not to make it too mushy.).
- Place in an oiled baking dish, cover with foil, shiny side in, and bake for 1 hour in the 325 degree oven with the turkey.
