Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups unsifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons double-acting baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pound frankfurters
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Insert barbecue sticks into each frankfurter.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the egg to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth to form a batter.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot until hot (around 350°F / 175°C).
  5. Dip each hot dog into the batter, ensuring it is well coated.
  6. Carefully fry the coated hot dogs in the hot oil until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
