Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream thoroughly the shortening, sugar, and egg.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  4. Stir the flour mixture into the creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  5. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
  7. Immediately after baking, roll muffins in melted butter, then into sugar and cinnamon.
