Ingredients

  • 12 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 8 c. flour (approximately)
  • oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs in a bowl; add baking powder and mix well.
  2. Gradually add flour to the egg mixture, kneading until a smooth dough similar to pasta dough forms.
  3. Let the dough rest, preferably overnight for better texture.
  4. Roll the rested dough out thin on a floured surface.
  5. Cut the rolled dough into 6-inch long strips, approximately 2 inches wide.
  6. Make a slit in the middle of each strip.
  7. Fold one end of the strip through the slit to create a twisted shape.
  8. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot until hot.
  9. Fry the twisted dough pieces until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  10. Remove fried bow ties and drain on paper towels.
  11. Serve plain or sprinkle with powdered sugar as desired.
