Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 coffee cup sour milk or buttermilk
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 9 dessert spoons melted lard
  • 4 cups flour
  • cinnamon to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine 2 eggs, 1 cup sugar, 1 coffee cup sour milk or buttermilk, and 1 tsp soda in a bowl.
  2. Add 9 dessert spoons of melted lard and mix until smooth.
  3. Gradually stir in 4 cups flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Roll dough into small balls and flatten slightly.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Deep fry the cakes until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Sprinkle cinnamon to taste before serving.
