Ingredients

  • gar
  • beer
  • 2 c. cornmeal
  • 1 c. flour (self-rising)
  • 2 Tbsp. salt and pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. celery salt

Instructions

  1. Clean the gar and cut it into pieces.
  2. Soak the pieces in salt water for 3 hours, then drain.
  3. Dip the gar pieces in melted butter.
  4. Coat the gar pieces in crushed cornflakes.
  5. Brown the coated gar in hot fat or oil over medium heat.
  6. Reduce the heat and cook slowly for 1 hour.
  7. Season with salt and pepper before serving.
