Ingredients

  • 12 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon oleo
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup soft oleo
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. In a double boiler, melt chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, oleo, and salt. Remove from heat and add walnuts and vanilla.
  2. Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, blend oleo and brown sugar until well mixed. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, blending thoroughly.
  5. Press two-thirds of the dough into a greased 10 x 15-inch pan.
  6. Spread the chocolate filling over the pressed dough.
  7. Crumble the remaining one-third of the dough over the chocolate filling.
  8. Sprinkle nuts over the top.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes until lightly browned.
