Galomki - Cabbage Rolls

Cabbage rolls filled with seasoned ground beef, rice, and onions, baked in tomato sauce for a hearty, comforting meal perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup cooked and cooled rice
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • medium head cabbage, parboiled to loosen leaves
  • 1 (10 oz.) can tomato soup
  • 1/2 to 3/4 can water

Instructions

  1. Separate cabbage leaves after parboiling the cabbage to loosen them.
  2. Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, cooked rice, salt, and pepper together in a bowl.
  3. Place a large spoonful of meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf and roll into a packet.
  4. Repeat until all meat mixture is used, then place the cabbage rolls in a roasting pan.
  5. Mix tomato soup with 1/2 to 3/4 can of water to create the sauce.
  6. Pour the tomato mixture over the cabbage rolls in the pan.
  7. Cover the pan with a lid or foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
