Tips & Substitutions

To enhance the flavor, consider adding a pinch of smoked paprika or crushed red pepper for a kick. If green tomatoes are unavailable, ripe tomatoes can work, but they will yield a different texture and flavor. For a quicker prep, pre-chopped vegetables from the store can save time. This relish pairs beautifully with hot dogs and Polish sausage.

Serving Suggestions

This relish is perfect as a condiment for hot dogs, hamburgers, or Polish sausage. It can also be served as a tangy side on a charcuterie board or alongside chips for dipping. For added crunch, pair it with a fresh salad or serve it alongside dishes like Mom's Hobo Supper for a delightful contrast.

Storage & Reheating

Store the sealed jars in a cool, dark place. Once opened, keep the relish refrigerated and consume within 2-3 weeks for the best quality. If you want to use it in larger quantities, consider transferring it to a smaller container for easier access. Reheat gently if desired, but it's also delicious served cold.
