- Combine pineapple juice, cider vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes.
- While the sauce is cooking, place the spareribs in a large saucepan with diced onion and cover with water. Boil over low heat for 15 minutes.
- Remove the ribs from the saucepan and place them in a baking dish.
- Pour the cooked sauce over the ribs and marinate in the refrigerator for 8-12 hours.
- Drain off the marinade and bake the ribs covered on the top oven rack at 400°F for 1.5 hours.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
