A hearty casserole combining seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and melted cheese, perfect for comforting family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 lb. lean hamburger
  • 6 medium potatoes
  • 1 to 2 lb. American cheese
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Peel potatoes and slice them lengthwise into thin strips.
  2. In a small skillet, sauté chopped onion until translucent; set aside.
  3. In a large pan, crumble and brown the ground beef until well cooked.
  4. Add salt, pepper, the sautéed onion, and one can of cream of mushroom soup to the cooked beef.
  5. Heat the mixture until very warm.
  6. Layer the sliced potatoes in a baking dish, then pour the beef mixture over the potatoes.
  7. Top with cheese slices or shredded cheese as desired.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20-30 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
