Gene'S Chili
Ingredients
- 3 garlic cloves, minced ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil ⓘ
- 4 lb. round steak, ground ⓘ
- 6 large onions, sliced ⓘ
- 4 large green peppers, sliced ⓘ
- 4 (16 oz.) cans red kidney beans, drained ⓘ
- 3 (16 oz.) cans tomatoes ⓘ
- 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste ⓘ
- 1/4 c. chili powder ⓘ
- 1 tsp. white vinegar ⓘ
- 3 dashes cayenne pepper ⓘ
- 3 whole cloves ⓘ
- 1 bay leaf ⓘ
- salt and pepper to taste ⓘ
Instructions
- Cook garlic in oil until golden. Crumble ground round in pieces and cook 10 minutes, breaking up so that it browns evenly. Pour off some oil and drippings into another skillet and cook onions and green peppers until tender. Add back to cooked meat. Add remaining ingredients; cover and cook over low heat 1 hour. If too dry, add more tomatoes. If too much liquid, uncover and simmer longer.
