Ingredients

  • 1 stick oleo or butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1/2 box brown sugar
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the oleo (butter) and brown sugar together.
  2. Allow the mixture to cool, then add the beaten egg and vanilla.
  3. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together and add to the wet mixture.
  4. Stir in the nuts last.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased flat pan and bake at 325°F for 35 to 40 minutes until the batter shrinks from the sides of the pan.
  6. Do not overcook.
  7. Cut into bars while warm and roll in powdered sugar.
