Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 lb. ground chuck or ground round
  • 1 large green pepper
  • 3 stalks peeled celery
  • 1 lb. whole or diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomato juice
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground meat while cutting the vegetables.
  2. Wash, drain, and boil the green pepper, celery, onion, and tomatoes.
  3. Drain the cooked vegetables and then cook on high for a few minutes to remove excess water, stirring constantly.
  4. Drain the vegetables again and mix all ingredients into a large pot.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. Adjust seasonings and vegetables as desired before serving.
