Gingernuts are crunchy, spicy cookies with warm ginger, cinnamon, and molasses flavors, perfect for holiday treats or anytime a spicy-sweet snack is desired.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup oleo
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 3 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons soda
  • 3 teaspoons ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cream together oleo and sugar.
  2. Stir in eggs, vinegar, and molasses.
  3. Sift dry ingredients and add to the first mixture.
  4. Mix all together well and shape into small balls about the size of small walnuts.
  5. Use flour on fingertips to prevent sticking.
  6. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes at 325°F or 350°F oven.
