Golobki, or stuffed cabbage rolls, feature tender cabbage leaves filled with savory ground beef and rice, simmered in a flavorful tomato-based sauce—comforting and hearty for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 3 lb. cabbage
  • 2 c. cooked rice
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 5 to 10 tsp. catsup
  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 28 oz. can whole tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Cook cabbage in boiling water until tender all through.
  2. Drain and cool.
  3. Take leaves apart, separate and dry on a cloth.
  4. Mix ground beef, cooked rice, diced onions, salt, pepper, and catsup.
  5. Place a portion of the mixture in a cabbage leaf.
  6. Be generous but don't overstuff.
  7. Fold over once, then fold the left and right edges in.
  8. Fold over to enclose the filling.
  9. Press lightly to squeeze out any juices.
