  • 3/4 cup shortening (or butter) (Crisco) or butter* 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup molasses 1 egg 2 1/4 cups flour 2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp ground cloves 1 tsp ginger 1 tsp cinnamon 1 egg
  • *Cookies baked with butter will be soft and chewy; cookies baked with Crisco will be crunchier.
  • 1/4 c molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 c flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together 3/4 cup shortening (or butter) and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy.
