Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups dates
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins
  • 2 1/2 cups hot water
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix dates, raisins, hot water, and soda; soak for 3 hours or until cool.
  2. Mix eggs, brown sugar, oleo, flour, vanilla, and nuts; add to raisin mixture.
  3. Pour batter into 2 to 3 loaf pans.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
