Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 to 7 tablespoons melted butter or oil
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour before measuring it.
  2. Resift the flour with baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Beat the egg yolks well.
  4. Add melted butter or oil and milk to the egg yolks and mix.
  5. Combine the liquid mixture with the dry ingredients using a few swift strokes.
  6. Beat the egg whites until stiff, but not dry.
  7. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter.
  8. Bake the waffles until golden brown.
