Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup grapenuts
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix together grapenuts, sugar, and buttermilk and let stand overnight.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients including egg, sifted flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and walnuts if desired.
  3. Pour the batter into a loaf pan.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 325°F (163°C) for 1 hour.
