Ingredients

  • 2 (9 oz.) packages frozen French-style green beans
  • 6 bacon slices
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 chicken bouillon envelopes
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Prepare green beans as label directs; drain.
  3. Place green beans in a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  4. In a 2-quart saucepan, cook diced bacon and diced onion over medium heat for 10 minutes or until bacon is browned and onion is tender, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in flour until blended.
  6. Gradually stir in 1 1/2 cups water, chicken bouillon envelopes, and pepper; cook, stirring constantly, until sauce is very thick.
  7. Gently stir the sauce with the green beans; sprinkle with shredded Cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes or until mixture is hot and bubbly.
