Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. butter or Crisco
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 c. raisins

Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda; cut in butter until the mixture is mealy.
  2. Add beaten egg, milk, and raisins; mix until all ingredients are moistened and dough holds together.
  3. The dough will be very stiff.
  4. Roll on a floured board to 1 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch cookie cutter.
  5. Refrigerate until ready to bake on a griddle.
