Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms
  • 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 15.33 oz evaporated milk
  • 1 9-inch pie shell

Instructions

  1. Let the pie shell thaw at room temperature for 10 minutes; prick the bottom and sides with a fork.
  2. Bake the pie shell at 450°F for 5 minutes.
  3. In a skillet, brown the ground beef, rinse in hot water, then drain.
  4. Add chopped onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder (if using), and mushrooms (if using) to the beef and cook until vegetables are tender.
  5. In a bowl, beat the egg and mix with the evaporated milk.
  6. Combine the cooked beef mixture with grated Cheddar cheese and the egg-milk mixture.
  7. Pour the filling into the partially baked pie shell.
  8. Bake at 450°F for an additional 25-30 minutes until the filling is set and golden.
