Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring brown sugar, butter, and boiling water to a boil again. Pour into a casserole dish.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking powder, white sugar, raisins, milk, and vanilla.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the middle of the prepared mixture.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour until the pudding is set and golden.
  5. Serve warm, optionally with whipped cream or ice cream. The pudding makes its own sauce.
