Halupki Casserole
A hearty casserole combining tender cabbage, savory ground beef, rice, and flavorful tomato and sauerkraut layers, perfect for comforting family dinners or gatherings.

Instructions
- Simmer cabbage and chopped onion in a pot of lightly salted water until tender.
- Drain and set aside.
- Mix diced tomatoes and tomato soup in a bowl and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped small onion, and chopped pepper.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Spread half of the tomato mixture on the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan.
- Layer half of the cabbage mixture on top of the tomato mixture.
- Spoon dollops of the beef mixture over the cabbage layer.
- Repeat layering with the remaining tomato mixture, cabbage, and beef mixture, without patting down.
- Top the meat layer with the remaining cabbage.
- Spread the remaining tomato mixture over the cabbage.
- Drain sauerkraut and layer it on top.
- Pour sauerkraut juice over the layers.
- Add enough water to come within 1/2 inch of the top of the pan.
- Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for at least 1 hour.
- Let sit for a while before serving.
