Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Instructions

  1. Crumble ground beef into a heavy skillet.
  2. Brown over medium heat until rich brown in color.
  3. Add the minced onion and continue to brown until the onion is transparent.
  4. Add the diced potatoes, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Add just enough water to barely cover the ingredients.
  6. Simmer gently until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.
  7. Make a paste of two tablespoons of flour and 1/2 cup of water.
  8. When the potatoes are tender, add the flour and water mixture.
  9. Stir until the mixture thickens and starts to bubble again.
  10. Serve with hot buttered toast or biscuits.
