Tips & Substitutions
For a twist, consider adding cooked bacon or swapping the Cheddar cheese for Monterey Jack. If you're short on time, pre-cooked frozen vegetables can be used instead of steaming fresh ones. Adjust the seasoning to your taste; a dash of Worcestershire sauce can enhance the flavor of the meat mixture. This casserole is versatile; try it with other meat options or even vegetarian substitutes for a different take.
Serving Suggestions
This hearty casserole can be served on its own or paired with a simple side salad for a refreshing balance. For added flavor, consider serving it with a dollop of sour cream or a sprinkle of fresh herbs. It also pairs beautifully with Grandma Samson's 4 Baked Beans for a comforting meal that satisfies everyone.
Storage & Reheating
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply microwave individual portions or place the entire casserole in the oven at 350°F until heated through, about 20-25 minutes. Cover with foil to prevent the top from browning too much during reheating.
