- In a flameproof casserole with a tight fitting lid, layer bread, cabbage, onions, and garlic.
- Spoon in the drained tomatoes over the layered ingredients.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Carefully pour chicken stock into the casserole so as not to disturb the layers.
- Cover and cook over medium heat for 30 minutes.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
