  • 8 pieces chicken, skinned and fat removed
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 lb baby carrots
  • 6 oz green peas
  • 8 oz red or white new potatoes

Tips & Substitutions

For added depth, consider incorporating a splash of white wine after sautéing the onions and garlic. If fresh ginger isn't available, ground ginger works well as a substitute. You can also use frozen vegetables instead of fresh for convenience. To enhance the flavors, let the stew sit for a while before serving. Also, try serving it with a side of crusty bread to soak up the delicious broth.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the hearty chicken stew in deep bowls, garnished with fresh herbs for a pop of color. It pairs beautifully with crusty bread or a fresh salad. For a complete meal, consider serving alongside a light dish like a Creole Chicken Salad or a simple green salad to balance the richness of the stew.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover chicken stew can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply warm it on the stovetop over low heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through. For longer storage, consider freezing the stew for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.

Yes, boneless chicken can be used for quicker cooking and easier serving. Just adjust the cooking time as boneless pieces will cook faster, typically around 20-25 minutes instead of 30 minutes.

If you don't have Worcestershire sauce, a mix of soy sauce and a dash of vinegar can serve as an effective substitute. Alternatively, you can use balsamic vinegar for a different flavor profile.

Is there a vegetarian option for this stew?

Absolutely! You can replace the chicken with hearty vegetables like mushrooms and zucchini, and use vegetable broth instead of water. For protein, add chickpeas or lentils, making it a delicious vegetarian alternative.
