Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Blend flour, white sugar, brown sugar, and margarine to form a crumbly mixture.
  2. Take out 1/2 cup of the crumb mixture and set aside.
  3. To the remaining mixture, add buttermilk, baking soda, egg, and vanilla, then blend well.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 10 x 14 x 2-inch pan.
  5. Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture evenly over the top.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 30 minutes or until golden brown.
