Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
  • 1 package (1 lb.) confectioners sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 2 cups sifted cake flour

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and confectioners sugar in a large mixer bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Add vanilla extract and lemon extract alternately with sifted cake flour, beating well after each addition.
  4. Pour batter into a greased and floured tube pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
  6. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  7. Invert onto a serving plate.
  8. May spread with cream cheese icing if desired.
