A flavorful herb cheese spread wrapped in flaky puff pastry, perfect as an elegant appetizer with crackers, apples, or pears, featuring creamy cheese and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 pkg Havarti cheese (12 oz.)
  • 1 tsp dried parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp dried chives
  • 1/4 tsp dried dill weed
  • 1/4 tsp dried basil
  • 1/8 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1/2 pkg frozen puff pastry (17 1/4 oz.), thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Spread Dijon mustard over the top of the Havarti cheese; sprinkle with dried parsley flakes, dried chives, dried dill weed, dried basil, and fennel seeds.
  2. Place the cheese, mustard side down, in the center of the thawed puff pastry.
  3. Wrap the pastry around the cheese package style, trimming excess pastry as needed.
  4. Seal the seam and place seam side down on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  5. Brush the top with beaten egg and chill for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F and bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven, brush with egg again, and bake an additional 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm with assorted crackers or sliced apples or pears.
