Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes, cut up
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 (15.5 oz.) cans red kidney beans, drained and rinsed

Instructions

  1. In a medium skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion and drain excess fat.
  2. Add all remaining ingredients except the kidney beans to the skillet.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Add the drained and rinsed kidney beans to the chili and simmer until thoroughly heated.
  5. Serve hot. For slow cooker, cook on high for 3 to 4 hours.
