Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup dairy sour cream
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped apples

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in honey until well combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in sour cream.
  5. Mix and sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, powdered cloves, and nutmeg; then stir into the wet mixture and blend well.
  6. Stir in finely chopped apples.
  7. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet, spacing 3 inches apart.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
