Ingredients

  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 6 large apples
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice apples into 1/8-inch thick slices and coat with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  3. Sift together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves in a medium bowl.
  4. In a large bowl, mix cooking oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla, honey, water, and lemon juice at medium speed until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until smooth.
  6. Layer the coated apple slices in a greased baking dish or cake pan.
  7. Pour the batter over the apples, spreading evenly.
  8. Bake for approximately 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
