Hoosier Peanut Bars

Instructions
- Sift together flour, soda, baking powder and salt.
- Cream shortening and brown sugar.
- Add egg yolks and vanilla.
- Blend in alternately dry ingredients and cold water.
- Press into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over dough and press in gently. Beat egg whites until foamy.
- Gradually add brown sugar and beat until stiff.
- Spread over dough.
- Top with chopped peanuts.
- Bake at 325° for 30 to 35 minutes.
