Creamy blue cheese and tender asparagus wrapped in bread make a savory appetizer perfect for entertaining or special occasions, offering rich flavors and elegant presentation.

Ingredients

  • 20 thin slices white bread
  • 3 oz. blue cheese
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 20 spears cooked and canned asparagus
  • 1/2 lb. margarine

Instructions

  1. Trim crusts from bread and flatten slices slightly with a rolling pin.
  2. Blend blue cheese, cream cheese, and egg until workable and spread on each slice of bread.
  3. Roll one cooked asparagus spear in each slice of bread with cheese mixture.
  4. Use toothpicks to fasten edges securely.
  5. Dip each rolled bread in melted margarine to coat thoroughly.
  6. Place on a cookie sheet and freeze until firm.
  7. Cut each rolled slice into three pieces and store frozen.
  8. When ready to serve, bake at 400°F for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
