Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar
  • dash black pepper
  • 8 slices white bread
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon and drain.
  2. Combine mayonnaise, shredded sharp Cheddar, grated onion, black pepper, and beaten egg in a bowl.
  3. Crumble cooked bacon and add to the mixture, then set aside.
  4. Cut crusts from bread slices on all sides.
  5. Spread each bread slice generously with the cheese mixture.
  6. Cut each slice into 3 strips.
  7. Place on a baking sheet, cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 7 to 10 minutes until golden and hot.
  9. Serve hot.
