- Cook bacon and drain.
- Combine mayonnaise, shredded sharp Cheddar, grated onion, black pepper, and beaten egg in a bowl.
- Crumble cooked bacon and add to the mixture, then set aside.
- Cut crusts from bread slices on all sides.
- Spread each bread slice generously with the cheese mixture.
- Cut each slice into 3 strips.
- Place on a baking sheet, cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 7 to 10 minutes until golden and hot.
- Serve hot.
