Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 lb. round steak, cubed
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
  • 6 green chili peppers, chopped
  • 2 garlic pods, crushed
  • 2 tsp. turmeric
  • 4 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 2 Tbsp. curry powder
  • 2 tsp. coriander
  • 3 bouillon cubes
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the butter in a large saucepan and fry the chopped onions until golden brown.
  2. Add green chili peppers, turmeric, chili powder, cumin, garlic, coriander, and tomato paste to the onions.
  3. Fry the mixture for 10 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent sticking.
  4. Add lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the masala.
  5. In a separate large pan, brown the cubed round steak in butter.
  6. Add water and bouillon cubes to the beef and let it simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
  7. Mix the cooked masala sauce into the beef.
  8. Simmer for 2 or more hours, adding water as needed.
  9. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
