Ingredients

  • 2 lb. stew meat
  • 1 small head cabbage, chopped
  • 5 small onions, chopped
  • 1/2 pkg. frozen okra (pieces)
  • 2 cans mixed vegetables
  • 1 large can tomatoes
  • 1 can Northern beans
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • pinch of garlic powder
  • 5 small potatoes, chopped
  • 1 to 3 small hot peppers
  • 1 tsp. red Italian pepper buds

Instructions

  1. Brown the stew meat until tender.
  2. Add chopped cabbage, onions, and okra, then simmer until tender.
  3. Add the remaining vegetables and spices except for the hot peppers and pepper buds.
  4. Simmer the stew for two hours.
  5. Add the hot peppers and pepper buds about 15 minutes before serving.
  6. Remove the hot peppers before serving.
  7. Serve hot with crusty French bread.
