- In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and baking soda.
- Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in raisins.
- Add buttermilk and stir just until moistened.
- Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead 4 to 5 times.
- Roll into 1/2 inch thickness and cut with a 2-1/2 inch biscuit cutter.
- Place biscuits with sides barely touching on a greased baking sheet.
- Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12-17 minutes or until golden brown.
